Damon Braces

For ‘tie-less’ straightening

Damon braces are fitted in a similar way to traditional fixed braces but are known as ‘self-ligating’, which means they don’t need elastic ties or frequent adjustments. This is because they feature a special slide mechanism that allows the wires to move with the teeth as they are realigned.

Why you may need treatment
You may have gaps, crowding, rotated teeth or upper and lower teeth that do not fit together properly and want to straighten your smile more swiftly.

The benefits of treatment

  • Fast-acting
  • Fewer appointments required
  • No elastics needed
  • Gentler forces and less friction
  • Easier to keep clean
  • Less likely that extractions will be needed before treatment

How we treat you
We take x-rays and impressions of your teeth, and these are used to create the appliance. We attach the unique smaller and flatter Damon brackets to your teeth and affix the ultra-light wires.

You need to visit us regularly so we can monitor your progress and make adjustments but you won’t need to come as often as you would with conventional braces.

What else you need to know
On average, Damon brace wearers benefit from an improved smile six months faster than those who choose conventional braces.

As with all teeth straightening methods, you will need to wear a retainer following treatment to stop your teeth reverting to their former position.
